Claudia and Alejandro, Trinity Habitat homeowners, couldn’t be more proud of their son, Alex. He is graduating high school second in his class, is a leader on the soccer field, and loves playing the trumpet. Claudia is most proud of what a wonderful big brother Alex is, “he always helps Abner and Abigail with their homework”. As the oldest, Alex remembers what it was like before the family purchased a Habitat home, “around our rent house, there was gang activity and I never wanted to have friends over.” That has all changed, and Claudia and Alejandro feel their Habitat home has been the perfect environment for their kids to thrive!
When college acceptance letters started coming in, Alex was excited to go visit the campuses. However, the family’s car couldn’t make it out of Fort Worth. They started saving, and thanks to having an affordable home, they were able to buy a reliable car. Alex and Claudia packed up and went to see what these great schools had to offer. Claudia says, “it was an amazing time to bond with my son. We talked about where I came from and where he’s going.” Ultimately, Alex chose Texas A&M University for their aerospace engineering program, and he starts this fall!
Without our Habitat home this dream might not have come true. We are grateful to all of the volunteers and donors who helped us build our home. Because of you, we have a safe, affordable home to raise our kids. I hope you see that your support is already paying off! – Claudia
Congratulations to Alex, the newest member of The Fightin’ Texas Aggies! We are all so proud!
